Detection of Geocryological Conditions in Boreal Landscapes of the Southern Cryolithozone Using Thermal Infrared Remote Sensing Data: A Case Study of the Northern Part of the Yenisei Ridge

This paper discusses the potential of using infrared remote sensing data to determine geocryological conditions in northern part Yenisei Ridge Russia. Landsat-8 thermal images and land surface were used for our analysis. The obtained characteristics compared with vegetation indices calculated period active growth along several transects. Surface observations included geobotanical descriptions, phytomass estimations, measurements thickness seasonally thawed layer, visual identification different effects permafrost on components taiga landscape. temperatures differed depending forest type due their bio-productivity sporadic as most important factor within southern cryolithozone. differences are varying degree influence boreal growth. temperature was indicator quantify relationship between latent heat sensible fluxes corresponding areas higher usually characterized by flux lower evapotranspiration plant canopy. types highest had lowest temperatures.
